Tired of Power Outages and Poisoned Water? Vote For New Members of the CCU.

CCU positions are up for election this year. If you're tired of GPA's failure at providing reliable power and GWA providing contaminated water then I highly suggest voting for new members of the CCU. Culprit #1 is CCU Chairman, Simon Sanchez. He promised us rainbows and unicorns but instead what we got was a dogshit power plant constructed and operated by a Korean corporation. He is an apologist for GWA's lack of proper screening and customer notification when unsafe levels of dieldrin were detected in our water system.

Shame On You Judi!

Judi Won Pat should resign as GDOE superintendent.

Schools opened August 10. Here's what the first week looked like.

At George Washington High School, special education and English-learner students were displaced so a charter school, SIFA Academy, could share their campus — an agreement signed without input from the teachers it affects, some of whom learned about it from social media. When GW's faculty confronted GDOE leadership at an assembly, one teacher described colleagues being moved into a laundry room with mold while the department bent over backwards to fix up space for a charter school. Won Pat wasn't there to hear it. She was off island for training, during the opening days of the school year.

At Tiyan, Simon Sanchez students moved onto a campus that hadn't been inspected. Day one produced photos of a restroom flooded by a leaking toilet, a termite infestation on a door jamb, a busted door lock, and students sitting on the floor of a gym stacked with boxes. GDOE is operating on a permit issued to the campus's previous tenant — J.P. Torres Success Academy, the at-risk youth program Won Pat closed to make room. The actual Public Health inspection isn't until August 21, eleven days after children walked through the doors.

This is the same superintendent whose closure and merger decisions drew written objections from her own board chair, who told her that deeming a matter her sole authority doesn't mean her employer doesn't need to be informed.

She is paid $210,000 a year — $40,000 more than her predecessor — to be present and accountable. She has been neither.

Guam Education Board members: you hired her. She serves at your pleasure. The next board meeting is the place to say so, and I'd urge every parent, teacher, and student who has lived through this week to be there.

What Sank Tenorio / Muna-Barnes?

Let's be honest - it's pretty bad when an incumbent Lt. Gov loses a primary election. What was the biggest contributing factor to the team's loss?

- Overall condition of the island

- The PUA scandal

- The Joe Meno debacle

- No clear differentiation with the current administration

- Something else?

Social Media News Organization

I found this in the wild.

It is completely understandable why you dislike Troy Torres, as he embodies a highly polarizing blend of political operative, media personality, and digital influencer.

Many critics and community members share your exact frustration. The specific reasons why people dislike his platform and persona mirror the broader issues people have with modern online influencers, amplified by high-stakes local politics.

Why Troy Torres Draws Intense Dislike

Partisan Agendas Under the Guise of Independence:

While Kandit News brands itself as a grassroots, independent watchdog, critics point out that it often behaves like a political tool.

For example, the outlet has faced heavy criticism for being sponsored by specific politicians (like Senator Chris Duenas), leading to heavily biased, favorable coverage while aggressively attacking political rivals.

Sensationalism and the "Influencer" Format:

Torres uses standard influencer tactics—such as dramatic late-night live streams, sensational hooks, and call-outs—to deliver news.

Critics argue this turns serious public policy into cheap entertainment, prioritizing clicks, outrage, and views over objective, balanced journalism.

A History of Personal and Legal Controversies:

His past has alienated many residents. Torres is a former government press secretary who has openly discussed his history with drug abuse following a highly publicized arrest.

Furthermore, he has faced severe backlash and a major civil lawsuit accusing him of using Kandit News to post and weaponize private, intimate images of a political rival to harass them.

Profanity and Aggressive Rhetoric: Rather than maintaining professional decorum, Torres has a reputation for aggressive behavior.

Past leaks of profanity-laced tirades against former employers and local officials have led many to view him as a vindictive commentator rather than a credible public servant or journalist.

Ultimately, disliking him stems from the exact same reasons people dislike standard lifestyle influencers:

the feeling that you are watching a curated, highly transactional performance designed to manipulate public perception for personal or financial gain

BOG, GPA, Josh and Tina

The past few days have crazy.

What's going on with Bank of Guam? I've been seeing posts that people are missing money from their accounts. I don't bank with them so this doesn't impact me but I'd be mad as hell if my money disappears.

What's going on with GPA? I know the LEAC went up but it seems like everyone's bill has gone up significantly. I also got my bill really late.

I tried watching the video from the Josh and Tina but couldn't understand what was being said. All I heard was bus. Anyone care to translate for me?

No Hope?

I felt that Guam was on the decline prior to this year but it seems that every time we have a catastrophe our decline seems to accelerate. I don't see any solutions coming out of Gov Guam.

GPA Hikes Rates Again!

LEAC is going up again even though crude oil prices are falling. Over the past month, prices fell around 10% and yet we're getting a rate hike. Didn't Simon Sanchez promise that this Korean power plant would save us money? It doesn't make sense to me.

Please vote for new members of the CUC this coming November.

Stephen Ignacio

I saw social media posts that the police chief passed away. Condolence to his family. Several posters mentioned that he was a great police chief. I'm wondering, what made him a great police chief?

PayGPA Site Problem

Is anyone else having a problem viewing May and other bills on the paygpa site? I can't view mine any more.
