Idea for a new mechanic to help Totems

Idea for a new mechanic to help Totems

The biggest issue with Totems is you get them by random chance, so if you’re a free player it’s practically impossible to get the new totem pieces beyond the free 25 from the pass

I think a cool mechanic to incentive free to play players to care about totems is give us up to 3 “Extra Recruitment Slots”. What I mean by this is you get up to 3 slots you can place any possible totem in the game into. If a totem is in this slot it gives it another entry in the totem lottery when you complete an alliance warfare

Let’s say I add Thragg’s totem to one of the slots. Now, instead of 22 options (for 22 Totems in the game) there’s 23 options I can get when I finish an alliance warfare, but 2 of those options do the same thing, giving me Thragg’s totem. So now every totem besides Thragg has 1/23 odds (worse than the original 1/22) but in exchange Thragg’s now has 2/23, which if my math skills are right, are basically a little under double the original odds. With up to 3 slots you’d have 3 totems at 2/25 with everything else at 1/25

I don’t think this would be particularly broken or game changing, as 1/11.5 odds still aren’t amazing, especially since you only get a roll once a match every 3 days (plus an extra every 5 matches) so I can see them adding it. This also wouldn’t offend people who current pay for totems, as the odds are small enough it won’t bring F2P players up to your level, but it will give you even more of the top tier meta totems you want

Ubisoft can still make money off it too, as giving free to play players a realistic shot of getting specific totems can motivate them to spend on totem passes. Personally I don’t because even if I get a totem, I’d be so hard to actually level it up. However if I had a way to at least somewhat increase the rate I can level up specific totems for free, I’d actually consider spending money on specific totems

They could even lock these slots behind gems at 2k, 4k and 6k to unlock. Enough to be something you need to actively save up and work towards, but not too much it’s not worth it. And of course paid players will just buy the 12K gems on day 1

Do you think this is balanced? Is it too good for players that Ubisoft would never do it, or is it too little and not worth engaging with as a player? Let me know
