Is this zipper repairable?
Hi all,
I really want to buy this pair of boots because this shoemaker rarely makes this style, and the store has them on discount because one of the zipper teeth is broken.
I’m wondering whether this is a realistic repair.
I contacted the boot maker, and he said he can send me a replacement zipper. My first question is whether it’s possible to replace just one zipper tooth if I take a matching tooth from a donor zipper.
My concern is that even if the missing tooth can be replaced, how would the zipper be reassembled and used afterward? It looks like the bottom insertion point of the zipper is sewn into the sole of the boot, so I can’t understand how the slider would be put back onto the zipper.
My second question is: if replacing a single tooth isn’t practical, would it be possible to replace the entire zipper given this style of construction?
Thanks for your expertise in advance!
