Valve, please consider being a bit more transparent.

My brother and I have been playing dota 2 for 10+ years now. It’s been a consistent source of closeness: our shared excitement over making cool plays, the themed cosmetics and events, and of course The International. We usually watch the entirety of the tournament together, despite living in different time zones. The complexity and skill showcased can still make us shout in excitement.

I know this subreddit can be vitriolic and sometimes expresses itself in ways that aren’t constructive, but its passion will never be up for dispute. Everyone here is very loyal to the game - we all know that it’s a phenomenon we may never find again. It may be getting old, but it’s still healthy. So I ask, respectfully, that you consider being a little more transparent with your development goals.

It gets tiring never knowing what lies ahead, never knowing if an “easter egg” in a patch note or a bit of code actually means anything. I’m not asking for guarantees of big content updates or massive changes - if there’s something planned make a post, and if there isn’t, all that’s needed is a “we have no plans for a content update at this time.” Knowing the state of the game would quell a lot of the unrest and speculation about where things are at. I generally have a lot of respect for the way dota 2 has been handled over the years, but transparency has never been your strong suit. It took me all of 20 minutes to write this post, so I know you can do it. We all just care a lot about this game.
