What did you find so attractive about me when I was 6 years old? Was it the way I was a "daddy's girl"? Wanting to help you build things?
Was it the fact that I looked so much like my Maman, who has left you?
The fact that it took me 7 years before I finally told you I would tell mom and the police, even though I had said no on so many occasions? Or the fact that when you started, I didn't know what you were doing was foul, asking me to put on my Barbie skirt and have a sleepover in your bed.
Over 20 years later, I still don't understand how anyone, let alone a father could see their child that way.
How when I finally came forward and told the police, the kids in my small town school found out and called me "father fucker", as though the choice you made, meant I wanted or deserved it. Over 20 years, and I still haven't fully recovered from the damage done.
