Hey guys. So I was reading into my retirement plan and came across something interesting. Not sure if I understand it correctly so I’m looking for some guidance. Every year I max out my 401k pre tax contributions by around September. After September I go 2% after tax to continue getting my company match for the remainder of the year. I read on the plan that I can do a rollover of my after tax contributions into a Roth IRA. Would this be a good idea to do? I figure if the money stays in 401k I’ll have to pay taxes on the gains when I retire. But if I can roll it over into a Roth IRA I won’t get taxed on the gains. Am I getting this right or is there more to it? Thanks
