  1. Team Selection: Is it better to form a team entirely of close friends for easier communication , or should I get new people who are better skilled . How do you deal with free-riders without ruining friendships?
  2. Mentor : which mentor is good for which specific domain and also their willingness to simply give internal marks smoothly?
  3. Topic : how do u find one , do i choose a field i wanna work on , interest , based on prof expertise ?

Entering 3rd Year (ECC) - Need Senior Advice on Picking 5th/6th Sem Electives- AIML

Note: this list is from a pdf which i got when i was thinking of branch change ,not sure if this is final

Hey seniors,

I just finished my 2nd year in B.Tech CSE-AIML at the EC Campus . I'm trying to figure out my elective for the upcoming 5th and 6th semesters.

cgpa (as of sem 3) ~ 8.3 . expecting around 8.5ish sgpa in 4th . will make sure to put all efforts to get it as close to 9 .

  1. How is the process of choosing elective happen :
  • when is it called
  • They say certain strength for subject must be met to have it as elective how does it work when aiml has like few students
  1. The Specialization Rule: Is it worth strictly sticking to one track to get the specialization tag on the certificate, or do companies not care? What happens to your final transcript if you mix and match tracks?
  2. Categorizing the Slots: Based on your experience with the professors at ECC, can you help label the courses into these categories?

Category 1: Easy Scoring / Light Workload (Good for managing Capstone/placement prep).

Category 2: High Effort but Rewarding (Hard grading, but you score well if you are genuinely interested and put in the work).

Category 3: The Danger Zone (Avoid because of unorganized materials, massive project burdens, if xyz prof is taking or historically terrible GPA curves).

  1. personal Advice: If my goal is ,to clear Tier-1 product campus placements which combination should I pick?
  2. based on my guess for myself to pick

sem 5 : Internet of Things , Computer Network Security

sem 6 : Large Language Models and Their Applications , Large Language Models Agent

  • any advices, suggestions are welcomed

backups options :

5 : Applied Cryptography, Advanced Data Analytics

6: Cloud Security, Applied ML in IoT
