Post Shoulder Surgery Nerve Issues. Stellate Ganglion Block being recommended
Hi all. I’m a 39 year old female with very well controlled T1D for the last 8 years (not so great control for many years before that). I had a shoulder arthroscopy on 3/31 to decompress my suprascapular nerve, clean out some adhesive capsulitis, and a distal clavicle excision. About a week after surgery I started having issues down the rest of my arm, into my hand with increased weakness and numbness. I also am doing an excessive amount of “muscle guarding” and have crazy pain across the top of my trap muscle on that side. Had an MRI as everyone assumed I had some sort of cervical radiculopathy happening but my MRI was normal. I’ve been seeing PT 3 days a week, chiropractor 2 times a week, and am making very very little ROM progress. Since my MRI is clear my ortho is chalking this up to ✨diabetes✨ exacerbating nerve weirdness/confusion and is recommending a stellate ganglion block.
I’m wondering if anyone has dealt with this or if they have experience with SGB’s and could offer any insight or advice. THANKS SO MUCH!!
