Any tips how to survive with MIL from hell?
I am new to Australia and still looking for a job. My husband, his mum, and I live together. Since I am new here and job hunting, I am a stay-at-home wife while my husband studies and works.
His mum and I were on good terms until she asked me for a favour, and if I missed it, she would get upset. One day, she left the house to go somewhere while I was doing chores—multitasking by cleaning the laundry and cooking for them. I missed her call. When she returned, she asked why I hadn’t answered her calls, and I explained I was busy. Then my husband arrived, and she asked him to get stuff from the car.
My husband complained about how heavy it was and that it was spilling all over. I didn’t check her messages until I finished everything. My husband got upset, and his mum said, 'I told your wife she should help me and get some plastic, but she didn’t answer me." She always comments, "You've changed; you’re not like that before.' Every time my husband relies on me, she makes remarks like that, as if I am the reason her son has changed.
I want to know what I should do while saving money for us to leave her.
