Does "lgbtq friendly" usually not include trans men/masculine presenting folk?
Hello!
I set up a waxing appointment with someone who is "lgbtq friendly" but im quite nervous.
I did the same for my birthday last year with someone else in a different salon, and was turned away because they "dont wax men."
I dont know if it is a dumb question, i feel like intuitively it should be yes but in most experiences I've had, both that salon that turned me down and lgbtq spaces in general, im not very welcome and feel quite excluded.
I put in the appointment booking notes that I am nonbinary but look quite masculine, and dont have bottom surgery, but im worried I will still be turned away. I was hoping/wondering if maybe this is just a hard lesson that comes with being trans masc, or if ive just had bad luck so far?
The waxer, from what i found online, is pretty accommodating and accepts many body types but that could just mean weight and stuff. Should i clarify that I am gay, so she doesnt think I am doing it for perverted reasons? Maybe cancel part of the appointment that includes a Brazilian (though thats 90% of the reason I want to try waxing, shaving gives me dysphoria)?
Any insights are really appreciated, both with this situation and lgbtq friendly spaces in general!
