A Hollenbeck bus route would improve south Sunnyvale transportation
How do we get a bus route that serves Hollenbeck?
One straight path through S Stelling/Hollenbeck/S Pastoria, with major stops on McClellan, Stevens Creek, Homestead, Fremont, El Camino, and Evelyn.
The existing bus routes in the area (53, 523, 55,...) primarily serve Mary and Sunnyvale Saratoga. This is understandable since these routes are targeted for public schools and a major road.
People living on either side of Hollenbeck, however, generally have cars. But how many people (non-drivers) cannot reach places like De Anza College, Whole Foods, CVS, Sunnyvale library, parks (Washington, Las Palmas, Serra, Memorial), etc., in a practical way while living by Hollenbeck? Biking is not always safe or practical, as efforts to bring bike lanes to Hollenbeck are currently increasing.
Even if this is not a large need for Hollenbeck residents, I believe it would increase residents' participation in local businesses and parks, simply because of the convenience of this bus route. Knowing that there is a solid way to travel already gets people thinking about where they want to go.
Adding a bus route for Hollenbeck would be a major improvement in city life, making travel in south Sunnyvale way more accessible.
