Can't believe there isn't a single thread about Dark Matter (2024) yet!

I wonder whether anybody here has seen Dark matter, apple serie from 2024 that is currently on its second season, because it sure has many similarities with our beloved:

  1. derived from a book, but only the first season

  2. book author collaborated with the show

  3. second season much more lively and engaging than the first (also, it begins with a flashback world building prologue, though nowhere near as long or out of place as in Leftovers!)

  4. first season very slow and starts cracking at episode 8!

second season is currently at episode 6 with 10 scheduled, if they do a third one the resemblance will be uncanny!

aside from that, the writer in question is Blake Crouch, and man can this guy pull the rug from under your feet! as fans of Wayward pines well know, he can deliver an unexpected twist that nonetheless makes perfect sense and leaves you thinking for days on end... he does that here as well, in the aforementioned episode 1.08, creating a delicious moral dilemma (they don't solve it very cleverly though...) that resonates in season 2

thoroughly recommended, though it's more character based and less world ending, even though it does involve worldS

[GTM][EASY] Metterci la faccia! #4

I don't expect this to last more than 10 minutes, but I decided to post it anyway, because:

  1. it's undoubtedly THE best movie ending punchline EVER!!!

  2. it concludes a descending decades ladder started with my first entry in this subgame (Triggermen, 2002), so I will start again next monday, this time higher

[GTM] Why so serious?

I'd like to start a new game within the game, where the movie to guess has some serious meta inside joke like this one (which actually has 2 or 3, including an involuntary one...)

[GTM] There's a difference, you know, between not liking one's brother and not caring when some dumb Irish flatfoot drops him out of a window

yesterday's game, in case nobody's wondering, was The hunt for wilderpeople 😄 (i guess it's not really fair to post a monochrome, though a guy did it a few weeks ago with Clockwork orange, and most games aren't solved based on caps anyway...)

[GTM] Red represents for me the interior of the soul. When I was a child, I saw the soul as a shadowy dragon, blue as smoke... But inside the dragon, everything was red

[GTM] the rhyming game

All right folks, we're going to do things a bit differently this time: i'm not gonna give clues, hints or nothing because this film has one, i believe unique, characteristic: its title rhymes with its protagonist's last name!

so, any guess will have to match this feature to have any chance of winning, and i'll be impressed with whatever you can come up with (i couldn't think of even 1!)

the rules:

  1. no false rhymes: if Jennifer Beals had been in Grease, that wouldn't fly... if, on the other hand, Don McKellar had been the protagonist of Interstellar, that's legit (kinda 😵 )
  2. no similar words or subsets of, for example if Ethan Hawke had done Hudson Hawk, that's no good; if Charles Dance had done Flashdance, even less so...
  3. the actor (or actress) has to be first or second bill: for example, Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp fiction could be considered a valid guess, but it's hard to argue him being the protagonist of the movie

finally, for your own benefit, i won't specify how many words is the title, but for the purpose of the game let's say the last one has to rhyme

good luck!
