Brown Thrasher sighting in PDX suburbs

Over the past few weeks I've regularly noticed a reddish brown songbird, slightly larger than a robin in my wooded, suburban neighborhood, usually near a creek or shallow pond. From a distance of about 75-100 yards I thought it was a Northern Flicker but after taking a closer look I noticed it was darker and lacked the red markings and spots.

This bird was a rich reddish brown, with wings that appeared a shade darker. It appears to have a slightly downturned bill. It's my understanding that the Brown Thrasher's range is mostly east of the Rockies, but I have no idea what else this could be -- it's song was too clear and bright to be an adolescent bird of prey.

I'll try to upload pics when I see it again. Thanks!
