Terminal Lucidity is a scientifically unexplainable phenomenon where patients with severe neurological disease and destroyed brains like in end stage Alzheimer's gain a sudden surge of clarity, organized thought, coherent speech and recognition.

Some researchers, such as Dr. Bruce Greyson and Dr. Peter Fenwick, suggest that the brain may not produce consciousness, but rather filter it.

The Concept: Imagine the brain is like a radio and consciousness is the broadcast.

The Application: If the radio (the brain) is broken, the music (clarity) is garbled. In terminal lucidity, some hypothesize that as the "filter" breaks down completely during the dying process, the consciousness is briefly "freed" from the damaged hardware, allowing the original "broadcast" to come through clearly one last time.

​If the "narrative self" (the personality, the name, the memories) is destroyed by a disease like Alzheimer’s, but the "observer" suddenly speaks out during terminal lucidity, it suggests that the observer is independent of the narrative machinery.

The Philosophical Question: If you can observe your thoughts, you cannot be your thoughts. If you are not your thoughts, what happens to "the observer" when the brain that produced the thoughts stops working?

Science proposes that Terminal Lucidity is caused by a chemical surge in the brain. However, a surge in a **BROKEN** structure cannot create clarity, organized thought, coherent speech and recognition. This logically indicates an intelligence unaffected by the material destruction around it.
