Tove Jansson wouldn't definitely approve it.
The series are way too detached from the original books.
She actively disdained modern life and the new Moomins feel like Paw Patrol way too much in some episodes and carries modern grievances and values way too much.
E.g. Tove Jansson was against the police state and wasn't against circuses with animals so far. Also, the original Moomins were melancholic, not slapstick, like in both series. And on Moominvalley it's subverted into the modern timeline.
Definitely comparable to Japanese Moomins.
Any other thoughts on it?

I mean, I like so many progressive rock bands like for example Rush and Rush was notorious of not being welcome to fans, with their fans accusing people of "parasocial relationship" and Ronnie, didn't mind this parasocial relationship.
What changed in this world?
