Moving to Herndon for AWS – apartment recommendations? Prioritizing quiet over luxury
Hi everyone,
I'm relocating to Northern Virginia for a role with AWS in Herndon and would appreciate some apartment recommendations.
My priorities are:
- Easy commute – I'll have a car, so a 10–15 minute drive to Herndon is perfectly fine.
- Budget – Looking for a 1-bedroom with a base rent of around $2,300/month or less.
- Quiet environment (most important) – I'm a light sleeper, so I'm looking for an apartment with minimal highway/traffic noise and good sound insulation from neighbors.
So far I've explored apartments around Reston Town Center like Harrison, Signature, Avant, etc. They seem great, but they're also quite expensive.
On the other hand, apartments in Herndon (such as Station on Silver and others) are much more affordable. I'm trying to understand what I'd actually be sacrificing by choosing Herndon over Reston Town Center. Is it mainly the walkable lifestyle, or are there meaningful differences in apartment quality, management, and overall living experience?
If quiet is my #1 priority, are there specific apartment communities in Herndon, Reston, Sterling, or nearby that you'd recommend—or avoid?
Thanks!
