I took my dog to the vet last month due to him throwing up his food a couple hours after eating and having diarrhea. They diagnosed him with anaplasmosis and gave him doxycycline. He told me he wanted him on it for 3 months and that was on the bottle too. When I was checking out I asked how I got the other two months of antibiotics and they said they could send them to my pharmacy. Fast forward today, he ends his first month prescription on Tuesday so I called today and asked them if they could send the medicine to the pharmacy and they said yes. I got a call back a little while later saying something about their system was down so they didn’t know it was my dog who I was calling about at first and said the vet changed the way he done it and wants me to bring a pee sample in next week to send off and check for something in the pee before giving another round of antibiotics. That is totally fine I will do whatever to keep my dog safe but I’m an overthinker and just confused why he changed his mind and needs a urine sample and if he changed the processed for all dogs or just mine. Am I just overthinking it or is that normal procedure for anaplasmosis and antibiotics?
