I always love really hard, and I feel like that's my downfall. I pour my heart out and hope that, that person will want to do the same for me. I do this with friends and romantic interests, I constantly go above and beyond, hoping that someone will do the same.

My dad used to tell me that we shouldn't give and expect. You give to give, even if you don't receive anything at all. That sounds sad though, to live life in a constant state of giving, but isn't it human to want the love you pour out to others?
