Hey guys, I have a year of experience of being a nurse. Had a patient who three days ago showed signs of difficulty swallowing and her speech was slurring so a rapid response was called. CT and MRI were performed everything negative. I was with her three shifts after this scenario and she was doing great. She squeezed my hand super strong, she was talking normally. She was even starting to walk. At the end of my shift with her which was day 3 she was showing signs of right-sided deviation, weakness on her upper extremity. I brought to the other nurses attention, I was getting called dramatic, but the night shift nurse who had her agreed with me that she wasn't at her baseline. Her vitals everything was normal. Rapid response nurse assessed had concerns of her right-sided deviation stated a plan. Stroke alert called, neuro team called. Patient headed to CT and there was no signs of stroke. Now I'm starting to feel bad hoping that I wasn't overreacting. Honest opinion was this the right call.
