ASUS ROG Strix G16 (G614JV, 2023) died overnight - found corrosion on motherboard near left fan screw, same spot as dozens of other reports
Worked fine all day, shut it down cleanly around midnight. Next morning: completely dead. No response from power button, no charging light even with the original adapter plugged in. Tried the standard EC reset (40 sec hold, adapter connected) - nothing.
Opened the back panel to check and found visible corrosion/discoloration on the motherboard right at the mounting screw near the left cooling fan (photo attached). Disconnected and reconnected the battery connector as a basic diagnostic step, no other work done.
Started digging and realized this is a known pattern - multiple owners of the 2023-24 G614J/G614JV posting the exact same symptom and same burn/corrosion location on the ASUS ROG forum, some getting free goodwill motherboard replacements through Executive Care even out of warranty.
Already emailed ASUS India support, called their toll-free line, and posted on the ROG forum directly. Posting here too in case others have hit this same failure - curious how widespread this actually is, and if anyone's gotten a resolution recently.
Model: G614JV, purchased 2023.
