Please tell me if ethically I’m in the right or not …
Flight from A to B, delayed departure because of fog at B but it eventually took off. Landing - not so much. Flew in circles for well over an hour hoping for a break in the fog but didn’t happen. Possibly as low on fuel (a guess) we landed at location C.
I booked into a hotel for the night, and we were all put on the same plane the next day and made it home. The airline has refunded me for the hotel and dinner. However I also put in a claim with my (not cheap) travel insurance, who say they pay £15/12 hours delay. They have rejected my claim on the grounds that the flight was cancelled- however that was after substantial delays and leaving me stranded in a third location. The policy doesn’t specify this and going by the wording they are on slightly shaky grounds. However before I appeal, am I being greedy? The airline did pay me back for the hotel so I’m not out any money.
