I’ve been brewing for almost a year now, but I did take a long break between October and April. I fed the scoby hotel here and there but honestly, several times I saw that the liquid had almost completely gone yet my scobys looked nice and not dried up. At that point I fed them.
My batches have always been great - I did 2 cups starter, 6 cups sweet tea (12 tea bags and 1.5 cups sugar) and 13 cups water, F1 for 10 days and F2 for 3 days.
Now, my batches taste vinegary after that same combo. I’m wondering if I could have damaged the scoby and that’s why? My friend is asking for a scoby but I’m worried that they’re bad at this point.
