Lately it feels like the crackdown on loud/modified exhausts in Dubai has gotten pretty strict, with cars getting impounded and all.
Just wanted to understand, does anyone here work in Dubai Police or know someone in traffic enforcement who can share how they decide to pull someone over?
For context:
I’ve built my car mainly for off-roading. It has headers + a valvetronic muffler, but I never open the valve on public roads, only in the desert. On the road it’s actually pretty quiet. I’m not into revving, showing off, or disturbing anyone…just drive normally, within limits, indicators, etc.
Still a bit paranoid because it’s a Nissan VTC (you know the reputation 😅).
So my question is:
If the car is being driven properly and isn’t making noise, can you still get pulled over just because it’s modified? Or do they need a clear reason (noise, reckless driving, etc.)? My understanding is it’s mostly checkpoints where mods get caught—otherwise, if nothing stands out, you won’t get pulled over unnecessarily… but not sure how true that is.
