My male 8 year old Leo has been having some symptoms of illness but the vet and I are unsure of what’s going on. I’ve been to the vet twice in the last week and we settled on troubleshooting with antibiotics.
Last week I noticed my gecko was holding his right eye closed and made a vet appointment. We flushed his eye and got it open and could see nothing wrong. No swelling no foreign objects, pupils dilating as usual, seemed he was just being stubborn. But I couldn’t get him to eat which is very unusual so I felt something had to be wrong. She gave me some eye lubrication that helps temporarily. He will open his eye after I apply but close it again within an hour. Two nights later when applying the eye drops I noticed some buildup around his vent. Gave him some warm soaks and he passed two sperm plugs. Still won’t eat. This morning when taking him out to go back to the vet his back right leg was swollen and reddening. She did x rays, says there’s no signs of MBD, no broken bones and no impactions. Felt around and said she feels no lumps or sperm plugs left. Eye still looks normal other than him holding it closed. But he’s visibly and rather rapidly losing weight in his tail. Still has zero interest in food. Even tried different insect variety, he is not having it. Vet gave me oral antibiotics to try for the next two weeks but if anyone would like to look at the x rays or share any ideas or advice it would be welcome :)
