Advice on whether to report
I have been casually selling some bits on eBay for about 6-8 months, just flipping stuff I buy at live auctions more as a hobby than for actual profit while adding some bits to my personal collection.
I sold a watch recently that after researching online said it was 'unisex', immediately after recieving the item the buyer opened an INAD saying it was a women's watch based on size (they took pictures of measuring the watch) and acknowledged that while it is a unisex design this is the ladies size. They stated that I had not mentioned or pictured the fact this was a ladies watch. I had at no point said it was a mens or a ladies watch and had put it under the 'unisex' category.
To my mind this is more an error on their part than the item not being as described. Did they get what they expected? No. Did they get what I described/photographed? Yes. Could I have thought about and added the dimensions to the description? Yes. Did I put any incorrect/misleading information? No.
It is not my fault that they did not check the size prior to ordering, now I am out of pocket for postage both ways and have the hassle of refunding/relisting etc.
I am inclined to report the buyer as this seems more like buyer remorse over buying the wrong thing than INAD, but am also wondering if there is any point in doing so.
If I do, what is the likely upshot? Will they likely side with him or me? Will I get the postage fees covered? That is all I really want as I am a bit miffed about being out of pocket for their mistake.
I have never had to report anyone before and not 100% certain how it works or if this applies to this situation.
