Warriors trade down to draft Morez + Evans?

The late first is filled with elite role player archetypes, MJJ as a monster athletic rim protector/lob threat with offensive upside, Isaiah Evans as a lengthy 3&D guard/wing with creation upside.

Luke Kornet is the vision for Quinten Post

Very similar players, similar frames, both rely on vertical contests as a rim protector, and believe or not, kornet was actually a stretch 5 at the beginning of his career. fringe starting level center/elite backup.

Jared McCain has very likely taken Isaiah Joe’s spot in OKC’s rotation. Joe to GSW?

Would be an excellent fit for golden state, immediate marksman who competes defensively. ~12 million a year.

2% chance at 1st Overall (same as Mavs last year), 9% at top 4, currently projected to have the 11th pick.

Solid FA class and I really think we need more size and wing defenders. No more guards who can’t defend or playmake. I love Keon Ellis and Kenrich Williams as potential targets, physical defenders who can space the floor and also put the ball on the floor. If that means letting Melton go I’m fine with it. Also looking at signing one of Bassey/Post, bringing back GP2 + Horford and maybe signing LJ Cryer to a standard deal.

Remembered him as a potential useful body in our memorable 2020 season, great vertical spacer who moved the floor well, solid shot blocker and rebounder.

There was noise around us potentially trading up to the first round last year, and how the FO liked a specific player either in the mid or late first round. Has anyone ever figured out who the player was?

Had to think a bit about this one for sure, both of our most likely third string centers next season and could potentially play a backup role if injuries pile up. Let’s break down the players first:

Quinten Post: 7’0/7’3 WS/240 LBS

STRENGTHS: Great shooting mechanics for a big, good floor spacer that understands spacing, along with surprisingly good passing feel. High feel for the game, solid measurements with one swing skill.

WEAKNESSES:

Not a vertical spacer, isn’t very switchable, rim protection looks solid but is more of a vertical contester and isn’t necessarily a shot blocker. Touch is solid but doesn’t have a consistent post game, screen setting needs work, below average rebounder for his size.

Charles Bassey: 6’10/7’4 WS/230 LBS

STRENGTHS: High motor big, good athlete, very lengthy with quick second jump and good timing on his contests. Vertical spacer who knows when and how to roll, solid screens and great rebounder/shot-blocker

WEAKNESSES: Offensive game is limited outside of lobs and dump offs, shooting has potential but needs development. slightly undersized for a 5.

Overall, two completely different center archetypes but can both pan out to be great players. Quinten Post i see a late career Brook Lopez-lite, and for Charles Bassey it’s a Clint Capela-lite. So the question is, who can contribute more now, and what do we need? Assuming Horford & Porzingis resigns, we pretty have our true center rotation set assuming we don’t draft another one. Both stretch fives but lack athleticism at this stage of their career. Post almost completely overlaps with them, and doesn’t bring anything they don’t bring. Bassey on the other gives you an archetype we don’t have yet, a lob threat. We know Steph/Jimmy/Draymond all love playing with a vertical spacer. So to win now, I’d go with Bassey. But I do believe Quinten Post’s archetype is hard to find, a 7’0 stretch 5 with good passing feel and rim protection upside. Let me know what you guys think though.
