Hi guys, I have been a Youtube Premium user and have been using Youtube Music for a long time. My friends are always raving about Spotify with better music quality and recommendation algorithms, so I’ve decided to give it a go. To be honest, I love the recommendation algorithm. I feel like the next recommendation songs on Spotify always fit in the mood of what I have chosen to listen before and I love it.
BUT, why is it so frustrating to add a song queue that Spotify recommends to me as a playlist so I can listen into the future?
Like if you search on a song and click to play the song, and you find the next recommendation songs in the queue good, how do you add the whole queue as a playlist so you can listen later? I don’t know if I’m tripping but here’s the google result:
So we can’t do it on the app? This can be very easily done on Youtube Music though.
Also, when you go to the next song on the queue, the previous song is gone lol. Like if you click on a song, and start exploring new recommended songs in a queue suggested by Spotify; and 30 songs later, you want to go back to see which songs you have listened to, you have to click the “previous” button 30 times or view history? Like am sure I tripping again or is this the truth? On Youtube Music, all songs you have listened and will listen in a queue are still there. But on Spotify the songs you have listened to are just popped poof out of the screen???
Comparing the songs display in queue: Spotify vs YoutTube Music

(Note: This vid has been sped up. Also, my Youtube Music no longer has premium, so you see the songs as videos, but in the premium version, the songs are just static song images, not the MV like above)
So Spotify for me is:
- Pros:
- very good music rec algo
- Cons
- can’t see songs I have listened to in the queue
- can’t save the recommendations queue to a playlist
- when you search and click on a song in YT Music you have a lot of options - to add as favourites, add to your library, add to a playlist; but in Spotify there’s only one “convenient” button to add to the library…Like what…?
- can’t change the plan on the mobile app:
But, music recs are very important to me because I love exploring songs recommended from my kickstarter song, and save that as a playlist. I want to segment songs based on moods in each playlist and thus I don’t ever use the library of all songs. Spotify gives me the algo, but not the list. YT music gives the list, but not the algo. Like what…
Does someone have walk-around tips that can solve these Spotify problems? If yes then I would really consider switching to Spotify because I like its algo, but if not, it might not be worth it…
Thank you!🙏🏻
