Ibuprofen After Vowst and C Diff?

I’m having horrible dental pain. The dentist wants me to take an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Celebrex, but after 2 bouts of CDiff and taking Vowst, I’m worried this will kill my gut. My last infection was in May and I took Vowst about 4 weeks ago.

Anyone have any problems or success taking these types of meds?

Next Step in the C Diff Adventure - Vowst

Well, my doctor was finally successful in the appeal to insurance and I now have Vowst. Super nervous about the magnesium citrate and then whatever happens after I’m done.

My first C Diff occurred April 23. It is a mystery of how I contracted it since it wasn’t from antibiotics. I ended up hospitalized and experienced acute kidney failure from vomiting and insane amounts of diarrhea. My PCR test was positive for C Diff but negative for toxins, yet I had ALL of the symptoms and a high WBC. So, they treated me with vancomycin and sent me home once the kidneys and symptoms regulated. I relapsed within 2 weeks after the vanco was completed. This time I got fidaxomycin and then went on a vanco taper.

I have been on antibiotics which have kept me normal since May 21. Now I’m getting off them and depending on a poop pill to stop another recurrence. What if it comes back? It already made me super sick and destroyed my house. I haven’t been allowed to return to work since I got sick in April, but finally get to go back on Monday. As an added bonus, I lose my heath insurance at the end of the month. So many worries about all of this. I hope the Vowst actually works.

C Diff Recurrence

I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones, but less than 2 weeks after finishing my Vanco it is back. Fortunately, I knew what to expect this time and was able to get Dificid and fluids for dehydration without going to the hospital (although just barely since my kidney levels were somewhat elevated).

Diarrhea has stopped, fever is down and I can drink fluids again. Hopefully the Dificid works long-term this time.

Had my first bout of c diff a couple of weeks ago. Ended up in the hospital with an acute kidney injury from severe dehydration as a result of all the vomiting and diarrhea. Funny thing is I didn’t get it from antibiotics. We don’t know where it came from. So thankful for Vancomycin.

I’m a bit overwhelmed from not only how sick I got, but also from part of my house being destroyed (carpet, clothing, towels).

This feels like one of the worst experiences I’ve been through. Does it ever get easier? Am I going to have trouble with antibiotics for the rest of my life even though I didn’t get it from taking them?
