Where is this clicking coming from? And how expensive could the fix be?

After getting the front wheel bearings swapped on my 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i it has developed a click/clank when moving from forwards to reverse (and vice versa), and occasionally when taking a slow left turn. I also hear a sound like the brakes skipping when I slow down to a complete stop, but no loss in braking power.

The video is of the front passenger wheel while I rock the car back and forth. I can feel a little click, and it becomes a tiny bit quieter, when I grab the axle. Otherwise I can’t find any other ways to change the sound (ie find a cause).

Because bearings are expensive to swap, I went to a friend of a friend who has a low key racing mechanic business (think 4 broken down old cars in the front driveway, enough knowledge and skill to get by). It’s a slightly rusty east coast car, so when removing the axle from the wheel bearing the axle was seized in the hub. I mentioned seeing a video where the knuckle was dropped from the strut to allow easier access to the axle and bearing. Instead of dropping the knuckle, he proceeded to use heat, and when that didn’t work he pounded on the axle with a hammer drill (while the knuckle was still attached, mind you) until the axle was free from the hub. Could that have caused this issue?

I’m bringing the car to the shop on Monday anyways, I just wanted to get an idea of what might have happened so I can prepare for everything. Thank you!
