Hello!

My friend and I want to do a cross country road trip starting from Washington, D.C. and ending in Los Angeles. We’ve decided to rent a car and drive to LA within two weeks. Does anyone have any general tips for how to plan something like this? We were thinking of just staying at motels along the way, and drive about 4-5 hours a day. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!! This is the first time either of us have done something like this.
