Those Who Receive The Holy Spirit

Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things;
and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given
to them that obey him.

The Called Or The Chosen?
Romans 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

Who Receives The Reward Of Their Inheritance?
Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Those Who Are Ready To Die
Revelation 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain,
that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Manifesting The Life Of Christ
2 Corinthians 4:9-11
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Be Faithful Unto Death
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

The Called are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. It is impossible to be found faithful without the indwelling Spirit of the Chosen/Elect as an accepted stewardship.
1 Corinthians 4:
1 Let a man give account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards
of the mysteries of God.
2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same
one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

The confusion that exists in Christianity is the failure to comprehend that Paul always addressed The Elect/Chosen in his epistles. This could amount to only a chosen few in the audience of the reading. Everyone has a Bible, to think that you can read it and simply claim the promises without taking on the diligence and faithful endurance required therein is utter folly.

1 Timothy 2:8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere,

lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;

Praying without wrath means that our thoughts must be free of personal desires and passions, expressing only the Will of God (in the Name of the Lord). To be without personal favoritism (respect of persons), led by the Spirit in directing our thoughts toward God.This manner of praying will be reflected in our speech directed towards others.

Ephesians 4:

31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Cease from internal reasonings and speak the truth in love.

Doubting-dialogismos [G1261] the unsettling of the heart resulting from our inner dialog.
There is a clear distinction made here from when Jesus asked Peter “why did you doubt” when he tried to walk on the stormy lake, and I would encourage a thorough investigation into the use of this word, especially by the Greek Luke.

Examples

Luke 5:22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them,

What reason ye in your hearts?

Luke 9:
46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him

Luke 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled?

and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

Having Second Thoughts?
Key Origins and History

  • First Recorded Use: The term "second thought" was first known to be used around 1622. It appeared in common English usage shortly after, specifically during the period of 1625–1635.
  • Etymological Roots: The idiom stems from the natural human process of reflection and reevaluation after making an initial decision. It literally refers to ideas that come later—the "second" wave of thinking that follows a first, often impulsive, reaction.
  • Regional Variations:
    • American English typically uses the singular form: "on second thought".
    • British English more commonly uses the plural form: "on second thoughts".

The phrase is used to indicate a revised opinion or a change of mind after reconsidering a previous action or judgment. It often implies a feeling of doubt, worry, or hesitation regarding a commitment one has already made.

1622? Think Again!

Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

doubt---Distazo [G1365]= to mentally duplicate;

from>dece [G1364] twice

Mark 14:30 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”

Note that this is a unique word usage, distinct from the expression of doubtful reasoning, and is used only one other time.

Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

How grievous that they had second thoughts about the Resurrection!

The other use of doubting will be covered later.

Oh, the boldness of Peter in the midst of the storm!

Matthew 14:

28 And Peter answered Him and said,

“Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat,

he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

When we walk in the Spirit, we can go anywhere, even on water,

if we reject the influence of circumstances, and rational thinking!

30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid;

and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Peter was overcome by circumstances when he had second thoughts! The boldness of the Saints is to be free from second thoughts about our actions, trusting the Lord with all our hearts, free from our own understanding.
