1970s slab home with sill cut straight through for sewer drain located under kitchen sink, and this drain also serves second floor bathrooms. How do we join the sill plate, or just leave it?

Also, why all the couplings? It's hard black pvc, or whatever they used in 1970. No evidence of leaking. I wonder if they pieced together these pipes. Should it be replaced with one continous pipe?

This was behind a wall in kitchen. We had a leaking cast iron pipe replaced, now the area is drying it out before structural repairs take place.
