Water line leak fix

The water line from my fridge ice maker has developed a pinhole leak for the second time in the 10 months I’ve lived in this house. The first time my brother was in town and helped fix it by splicing in a connector. It’s not the leak. A new leak developed 3 inches away. I would do the splice thing again but there’s no valve on the fridge to turn off the water. I’m not strong enough to turn off the water at the street. So the guy at the hardware store suggested using flex tape. I’ve tried 4 or 5 times to get it to work. Anyone ever used this stuff successfully and have tips? Or any other suggestions for a solution? This single stubborn girl thanks you in advance.

Shower clogged, help!

We’ve been having issues with our shower and toilet backing up for a bit. We'd be showering, the toilet gurgles, then the shower backs up. Usually plunging the toilet helps, but what's weird is my kid's toilet would clog too and sometimes water would back up in their tub before I get it plunged. Well recently it has clogged up so much that plunging would not help, although it's just effecting our master shower and toilet, not the kid's. Then we got some black water that started to come up out of the shower drain. We have not used this side of the house for about a month now while dealing with this, just the two bathrooms. The other side of the house has the kitchen, laundry, and another bathroom and there are no issues there. I live in a small rural town and plumbers are so backed up that I can't get any of them to even call me back. So I went and bought a drain auger and attempted to snake our shower. I got it pretty deep, maybe 10-15 feet, and pulled out some black gunk but it is still not draining. Any suggestions for me to try? I may just have to try calling a plumber from the nearest city and pay whatever they want to get them out here.

Tub Drain Removal, PLEASE help

Hello! I am desperately trying to help my mom replace her tub drain and the surrounding pipes. I'm usually okay with these things and learn quickly through videos, but her house is from the 70's and had a ribbed brass overflow drain pipe setup thing as well as this brass piece underneath. I cannot for the life of me separate the drain from this piece. They both seem to loosen in the same direction, and they just keep spinning.

I got her to hold pliers so the drain would stay in place while I try to twist this off, but it didn't work. I don't know that there's enough space for me to get any kind of saw in the small space to try and safely saw between the under side of the tub and the drain. (Both because there isn't room in the space where the wood is cut out under the tub (basement ceiling) and because I can't loosen it enough to fit a saw above this brass piece/under the tub.) I am way out of my depth. I've PB blasted the heck out of both sides, used a hair drier to try to loosen the old putty, hammered the sides and underneath (hence all the dents), used a drain remover tool, etc. I just need both pieces out to I can finish the job as it was leaking and broken. Any help is appreciated more than you can imagine. Thank you!!!

My slow draining kitchen sink was draining slower than usual, but the problem is beyond the u-bend - what to do?

I removed the u-bend to check for blockage and it’s clear, I replaced it but the water just stands in the sinks!

Anything I can do? Call a plumber? Call the local water company?

Drip on cast iron pipe

Hi Folks,

I have a slight water drip coming from the area underneath the gate valve where the copper pipe joins into the cast iron pipe, it is where the PTFE white tape is visible.

What are your suggestions please on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Anyone know how to fix

The water constantly runs and you can adjust pressure of how much water you lose with the shutoff valve

How do I fix this?

There’s so meat defrosting and the dishwasher is on, which is what I think is causing all this condensation, but I don’t know . However, I don’t know about the part that came off. On a scale of from a quick run to Home Depot to calling a plumber now, where do I stand?

Replace Shower Handle

I am looking to replace a shower handle in my apartment. The handle was taken off and thrown out so I don’t know what brand it was or what it originally looked like. Does anyone know what brand this is or what I would need to do to replace this as easily as possible.

What is my best option to handle this tub rust?

Noticed this back in late May behind my overflow drain. Went and bought JB weld marine, some steel brushes, sanding sponge, a new drain cover, and rust aid rust remover gel…. BUT somehow totally forgot about it (thanks ADHD).

Now today I randomly remembered it and took this second picture, where it seems like it’s getting a lot worse pretty fast.

What should I do? Continue down the path of try and remove the rust and seal it to hell on both sides? Something else? I really don’t want to have to get a whole new tub but I feel like if I don’t address this asap it may get to that point.

Note\* it is a little softer to the touch than before but I can’t straight up poke a hole through it just yet so some integrity is there. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Bathtub/Shower Leak

Please help!! Any ideas what might be causing water the build up in the wall/baseboards that corner the tub/shower combo?

I've attached pictures and boxed in the area where water is leaking. It seems to happen most times when we shower, we've checked for splash zones already, ripped out and replaced baseboards (the drywall behind did not seem damp so we decided to leave it be), we've tested out different angles but cannot locate the cause of this water damage.

Can I get a replacement from Home Depot? And is it something I can fix myself?

Need help. Toilet isn’t filling up right.

My husband is away for a few days and the toilet is just not flushing properly. Can someone help me or is it time to call a plumber? Bubbles are from Clorox spray overspray while cleaning.

Bathroom water source leak

I recently purchased new faucets where the water line was 3/8 inch and source is 1/2 inch. Went to Home Depot and they recommended me these to adapt. The pieces seem to fit but am getting leaks in all 4 water lines (this is a double sink), I think at the 1/2 inch part.
I’ve dissembled and re taped twice already but without much success. Should I just replace the faucets? Spout at the water source?

Tank won't seal with fluidmaster complete kit

Kohler toilet. I had a tower-type mechanism where the tiny little plastic retainer at the bottom broke off (surprise). Bought a Fluidmaster complete kit at Lowe's, but even after five attempts I'm not able to get a watertight seal between the tank and the toilet. Also, I'm not sure it's a Kohler tank. The instructions that came with the Fluidmaster provided a gasket with three rubber plugs to fit into recesses in the bottom of a Kohler tank. But not only does my tank not have those three recesses, the bolts attach to a (aftermarket?) metal plate that's kept in place by the flange nut. I cant find any markings at all on the tank to indicate a brand, model number -- anything. Do I need a new tank? And if so, I saw another post here that said I need to use Kohler hardware? TIA

How to replace these bathtub faucets?

I gather they expect you to cut out the drywall? I can’t figure any way to access them. But even so that be more than a foot from the hot water faucet.

Trying to fix leaking shower faucet

Edit: More photos in comments
So we’re trying to replace the shower cartridge on my house shower, (20+ years old) we’ve taken everything off and taken the pin out too, now, the screw holding the middle piece did break off but that shouldn’t be an issue if we’re taking it all out, but when pulling it seems to be hitting something and not budging. I’ve attached a photo. I’d appreciate any help
