POST GAME - Treasure Pleasure #1

Hail Clan,

Three scallywags and I had our campaign launch last night. A four player "Lost Prince" scenario with Reiklanders, Skaven, Witch Hunters and my Dwarven Treasure Hunters. It was an absolute slobberknocker! and tonnes of fun.

Here's my current roster;

The Dunbar Garrison

  • Noble (85) - Brace Pistols (20), helmet (10) spear (10), sheild (5) = 130
  • Engineer (50) - Brace Pistols (20), helmet (10), hammer (3), sheild (5) = 88
  • Slayer (50) - Sword (10), hammer (3) = 63
  • Slayer (50) - Sword (10), hammer (3) = 63
  • Clansmen (40) - Spear (10) = 50
  • Clansmen (40) - Spear (10) = 50
  • Beardling (25) - Club (3), dagger = 28
  • Beardling (25) - Club (3), dagger = 28

I made away with 65gc, a spare wyrdstone for later, and a Mordheim master map! A very strong start and no deaths!

I'm taking your input as to how and spend my treasure. I'm assuming my gaming group will read this at some point so I'll keep my final decisions to myself. Additionally, I don't know who I'm matched up against next, but it'll be a 1v1.

Be advised that we are using the "Hull House Rules" so blackpowder sale, spears always strike first etc etc.

Rarity and Recruiting rolls are yet to be made, as is the advance on my Engineer.

How would you spend it?

Thank you Clan.

Do Wyrdstone Pendulums and Holy Relics synergize?

We've got a new group. Questions are being raised.

You fight the battle. You're in the post game, about to start the Exploration Phase. Your leader has a Wyrdstone Pendulum and a Holy Relic.

"If he was not taken out, the Hero using the Wyrdstone Pendulum may make a Leadership test after the battle. If he is successful, you may re-roll any one dice in the Exploration phase. This dice may not be re-rolled"

"A model with a holy relic will automatically pass the first Leadership test he is required to make in the game."

Does this make your Wyrdstone Pendulum guaranteed to work? Is the post game still "the game"?

Is this cheese? Is this not part of the intended use? Is this a table ruling?

Thanks Clan.

Rate my Dwarf Treasure Hunter warband.

I'm not a complete jube at this game, but I always appreciate the feedback of this community.

Relevant information;
We're playing the Hull House rules so;
Spears always strike first, -1WS when duel weilding with their off-hand, Blackpowder Sale, Misfires and Bulwark.

The warbands I'll be fighting are all 1a. The players are more experienced than I however. There is a Skaven warband (I fucking hate those things) otherwise all human warbands.

  • Noble (85) - Club (3), sheild (5), helmet (10) = 103
  • Engineer (50) - Crossbow (25), sheild (5) = 80
  • Slayer (50) - Sword (10), club (3) = 63
  • Slayer (50) - Sword (10), club (3) = 63
  • Clansmen (40) - Spear (10), sheild (5) = 55
  • Clansmen (40) - Spear (10), sheild (5) = 55
  • Beardling (25) - Club (3), dagger = 28
  • Beardling (25) - Club (3), dagger = 28
  • Beardling (25) - Duel daggers = 25

Total 500GC.

PROS:
Its a big warband (for dwarfs) at 9 models. 25% would be 3 models lost. There's a lot of attacks to be made (even if they miss) and it unsurprisingly uses max clubs. I chose an extra Beardling to increase the chances of a TLGT roll. Everyone raves about the Exploration phase with dwarfs, but an extra die makes a bigger difference, especially early. Likewise, the addition of swords to my Slayers gives them a parry for survivability. Losing a hero early would suck, and they're expensive to replace. Spears were included to help the dwarfs abysmal initiative.

CONS:
Because dwarfs are so expensive, I can't afford the pistols I plan on buying. I would also love some helmets. I could sell off that last bearding and buy a helmet and pistol, and maybe a melee weapon for my Engineer. This would still give me two sacrificial dudes before routing becomes an option. I could also use the 25GC to swap out a Clansman for a Thunderer with a crossbow.

Thoughts?

Thanks Clan.
