Trying to afford knitting patterns while from a third world country

Man, it’s great to support pattern creators! It’s such a complicated skill set to have, I think they are wont to charge as much as they’d like. However. It’s so frustrating to be priced out of it. Eight dollars a pattern is a week worth of savings for me, or it’s a day’s worth of food! I make 10 dollars approximately a day. My grandma was a knitter, her sisters were crocheters. It was just a great skill to have back then, now it’s more of a luxury hobby. I really dislike that. We are being priced out of creating our own garments. Or just creating our own enjoyment!

Edit: just wanted to say, I do know how to get free patterns, and of course I know ravelry. I’ve knit many free patterns and am very grateful for them! They are so good. It’s just frustrating to not be able to knit fancy colorwork sweaters or a petite knit pattern. I know there are ways around it. I was just bitching about it, I guess. It does get me a bit miffed.

Guys help I got no idea what this long ass loop was supposed to be

I was knitting while very sleep deprived yesterday and had to frog everything I had done today. I was knitting some German short rows after the collar section of my sweater was done (the roomy raglan pattern) but I did them in reverse stockinette accidentally 😓.

Now I frogged them and started to knit around the collar section while picking up stitches (no problem)

But what is this monstrosity? Is it a decrease gone wrong after frogging? I casted on 83 sts when the pattern called for 80, so I just did some decreases to get to 80, is this a by-product of that? I’m not really sure, it’s my first project and I’m really lost here

I’m so confused hehe

(Photos 5 and 6 are the collar before the german short row caffeine fueled disaster struck)
