Using AI as a review tool for students?

Hey all,

I'm a Spanish 1&2 teacher, and I'm in an M.ed Ed tech class heavily focused on AI, so I'm experimenting with some new systems for next year. I know people have a whole range of negative feelings about AI because of some of its damaging effects right now, but I also see a lot of the ways that it can be harnessed for good as a personalized study tool for students and/or a conversation partner. ACTFL has some suggested prompts on their website, but I wanted some firsthand accounts.

So, has anyone ever had students use LLMs as a tool for students to practice/review for assessments? How did it go for you? My district utilizes Google Classroom, so I'm somewhat familiar with creating a "Google Gem" within Gemini for students, but I haven't implemented it in my classes yet. Hoping some of you all will have some pointers/warnings from experience.....
