Built an AI that answers contractor phone calls/books estimates. Need honest feedback from roofers, contractors, and homeowners.
Hey guys,
I’m working on a side project to help small construction shops automate their phone routing when they’re out on a roof or job site. I notice a lot of guys here mention missing customer calls because they’re busy doing actual manual labor.
The idea is basically an automated AI voice assistant that answers missed shop calls and lets people book an estimate slot on the calendar instead of just leaving a voicemail.
I wanted to get some brutally honest feedback:
- For Homeowners: If you call a local contractor for a remodeling or roofing quote and a conversational AI answers instead of a human or an answering machine, do you hang up instantly? Or would you actually use it to book an estimate?
- For Contractors: How do you handle missed leads when you're stuck on a site? Would you ever trust a bot to handle your primary shop line, or does the idea sound completely useless for this industry?
Just trying to see if this is a real problem worth solving or if I'm wasting my time. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
