Looking for advice in painting my first army
Hello everyone! I made a post a few days ago about how I bought 47 knights (15 big ones, 32 war dogs) to start my first army and I've started the long long journey of painting them all. I've decided to start with a knight I got second-hand that has its armor panels detached so I can try out a paint scheme. What do you think? I was going for Word Bearers but in knight form.
I do have a few specific questions:
- Are the gold spikes any good? Should I have left them silver? Is another color better?
- Do you have a way to make them look more weathered? From my perspective I don't think they have enough wear or gradients. The citadel wash just leaves streaks while an oil wash unevenly coats the recesses (probably a skill issue on my part)
- Do you have a recommended matte varnish? These have been coated with "Vallejo Matt Varnish" but they're still really glossy in my opinion.
Thank you for all your help! I really appreciate it.
