What's up with the extra loyalty recognition recently?
The last handful of my stays have had weird little extra loyalty recognition/rewards. The first I didn't think much of. The lady at the front desk who I assume was the property manager thanked me so graciously you'd think I saved her life. And the other people at the desk also thanked me. The "Thanks for Diamond" always makes me feel weird because I am homeless and live out of these properties, thus I have diamond. But the thanks I got at this one was extra awkward.
Then another place had a gold star at my door with the diamond sticker on it like I was in elementary school. Now the whole floor knows I'm special.
Another place had me spin a prize wheel.
My most recent move, they gave me a small gift bag with three Hershey Kiss inside. "A little something extra for your loyalty" the guy said.
I like the standard rewards I get with membership. But these seem kind of, tacky? Has IHG told these properties to start finding extra ways to recognize members or have I just had a string of stays at interesting places?
