Why was the prince Simhala (prince Vijaya) in the Jataka tales originally a former life of the Buddha (the Jataka tales were recorded earlier), while later, in the Dipavamsa/Mahavamsa, he became the ancestor of the Sinhala royal lineage and people who lived during the life of the Buddha?
Something doesn't add up here..
