Registration of civil relationship while my partner is overseas
Hi guys, I badly need some help.
I’m currently in Australia and my partner is in the UK. We were about to start our processing of dependent visa in Uk as he is on a Skilled Worker Visa, while I am currently a student in Australia.
We have recently registered our relationship in Queensland (QLD), but I’m a bit confused about how we should sign the registration documents in front of a Justice of the Peace (JP).
Do we only need one original document? If so, do I need to post the document to the UK for him to sign, or is a scanned copy acceptable?
If he signs the document in the UK, does he need a witness there as well (such as a solicitor, notary public, or equivalent)? Could he sign it, scan it back to me, and then I print it and take it to a JP here in Australia?
Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
