Do you consider gameplay death/revival in DQ games diegetic?

Like as in it's not just an RPG gameplay mechanic that isn't meant to be taken as canon. But I feel like the style of Dragon Quest being more gameplay-focused means whatever you the player do actually is the reality of what's happening in the world.

Is it ever outright directly addressed at some point in the franchise? I've played through most the games by now and from what I've gathered it just feels generally implied that if you're the chosen hero then for the duration of your journey the Goddess/Almighty has the capacity to bring you and your close companions back to life if they fall, but they've never really outright laid it out like that to my knowledge. Also there's the handful of canon deaths in some of the stories that would kinda be a plot hole in that case.

I'm not here to hate on the game, I genuinely want to enjoy it more, I'm a huge lifeline FF fan, I love the VII world and story and characters, Remake was a great experience, but something isn't clicking about Rebirth and I keep losing motivation and bouncing off it. Last thing I did was reach the Midgardsormr boss and had some trouble so turned back to power up a bit.

I don't mind the extra fluff of side quests, side activities, and minigames and such, but there's just something about the core gameplay I feel like I'm missing. Combat just seems like going through motions, like I'm choosing actions based on nothing and it usually works out and sometimes it doesn't and I can't really tell why, how do I form a strategy? Why engage with all these stacked up mechanics like swapping characters and synergies and ATB commands if it doesn't make a noticeable difference from just attacking normally? And if I'm mistaken and there is a significantly more optimal approach then nothing's really pointing me in its direction, I'm just mindlessly cycling through options available to me on cooldown timers and I feel nothing.

EDIT: Everyone, yeah obviously I KNOW I can just not like something and leave it, but I don't feel anything close to distaste for the game, I think there's just a lack of rewarding feedback on my actions. Surely there's people on here who actually finished and fully enjoyed playing Rebirth, yeah? I just want to hear out what you like about it if you do, maybe tips on finding the depth of its systems if there is any a beginner might miss, or point me in a direction for min/maxing effectively since there's so much going on it's hard to sort out what really matters.
