Thoughts on this video?
This is a comment I left. FYI, I don’t know much about this topic. So these are just educated guess. Would love to learn more about this, and hear opinions, from yall. She seems nuts. Like the people who don’t understand and call ultra runners crazy, and genuinely hate anyone doing something they can’t.
My comment: “The sherpas, that is their job. They live up there, and know what they have to do. Sure, maybe they don’t have many options, but still. You are picking through trying to find cases where people are selfish. Some people may treat the sherpas disrespectfully, and grab on to them. That man that left his wife is ONE incident, that you are then applying to every one. I’m sure you sign so many waivers, saying that if you die, the group will go on. They can’t give all that effort, just to turn around when someone dies. It’s morbid, but what you signed up for. And, how do you think that man could have gone back down, or stayed with his wife? These people are in a group, and none of them know what they’re doing with out the guide. He had to go on, he could not just stay. Truly don’t get how you are saying this is selfish, when it’s their own lives and money. And you also have no idea what the husband and wife rearranged prior. This could have been a lifelong dream for both of them, and they would have wanted the other one to continue going on. They both knew the risks before doing it, both knew that either one of them could die, and wanted the other one to fulfill their lifelong dream of getting to the top.”
