Interesting stats from last night’s title win
With CM Punk’s WWE Championship win last night, he became the third man to win his third WWE Championship this year, the other two being Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes.
He is also the fourth person to lose a world title in one match, then win another in their next match. The other three times this happened were:
• Edge losing the WWE Championship, then winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber 2009
• John Cena losing the WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2013, then winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Hell in a Cell 2013
• Brock Lesnar losing the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2019, then winning the WWE Championship on the October 4, 2019 SmackDown
