Campfire?

Hey y'all,

I really enjoy the Golgari Pestilence deck for Pauper. I really want to play it on MOTO as opposed to only in person or on niche FTP websites where I can't play test against a wide variety of players. The issue is, there are 2 copies of the card campfire on MOTO (a card that is very important for the deck), and one of those printings costs 20 dollars. The other is 1.50 so I figured that would be fine, but I cannot find that printing anywhere.

I suppose I am asking what the reason for this is? Why is this printing so much "cheaper" if it just cannot be bought? And is there any anticipating that the cost of this card will go down? I feel like it only sees Pauper play so its high price genuinely confuses me, but I really don't want to shell out 40-60 dollars for the campfires I need (depending on what I end up using) alongside Snuff Out, Cast Down, and other staples.

If anyone knows somewhere I can grab these cheaper printings, that would be incredible.

Thank you for reading, and for providing advice!

Ninja of the Hand

Hey y'all,

I was opening some Marvel packs and got a common, Ninja of the Hand. I didn't really look at it too deeply but when I was going back through later, I realized it might be better than I initially gave it credit for (in the right situation).

I don't think this card is a staple, and im also not even saying it's good. I don't really think it will see play anywhere, but I'm a bit of a shill for discard so I'm going to make the case.

In a grindy control deck, this card enables you to force your opponent to discard at the low low cost of 5 mana (or 2 the turn it comes down).

If this sees any play, it will be in Mono B control decks, or in Gardens as another way to try and lock your opponent out of the game. Another upside is it does have deathtouch, making it an awesome blocker to defend initiative/monarchy from non-flying creatures.

I don't know if anyone else has really been looking at it but this being instant speed seems good to me, even if it is 5 mana.

Potential Reprints in The Hobbit?

Hey y'all,

I am pretty excited for the Hobbit set for a variety of reasons but one of my biggest reasons are the reprints. I think a reprint of the original land cyclers is likely but I'm not sure this will help the prices. I could definitely see Lorien seeing lots of play in the 4-5C control lists running around standard as really good fixing and good card draw late game if the game runs that long. Should we anticipate a spike in value for land cyclers from Hobbit? Or will the prices still go down from a common rarity reprint?

There is also the option that the reprints do not happen, and only big name cards from the set will be reprinted (the One Ring, Obm, Sauron, etc).

I suppose I just wanted to hear thoughts on this. I already own a playset of all the relevant cyclers besides Lorien and I'm sorta wondering if I should nab these now or hold on it.

If this isn't relevant enough for the sub let me know, thanks for reading!

Looking for Card Shops

Hey y'all,

I just moved out here and wanted to see what stores people liked for MTG if the hobby was prevalent here. I primarily play limited and standard but I also like pauper and commander. I am fine with any competitive level as I played at stores where I used to live that were very casual as well as very competitive.

Thanks for reading!
