Rule changes following community feedback

Hi!

Based on feedback on our recent community outreach, the moderators have made some changes to rule 3 and 5.

Rule 3 Now includes a line that disallows posts or content made outright with AI.

Rule 5 As we also have observed, there's been a significant number of posts promoting or self advertising products made by members of the community, often assisted by AI. While we appreciate the efforts with many tools are creative and helpful, the amount of such posts in general have been tiring for the community, while also the individual post arent doing that well as they are downvoted by users who are fed up with post in that genre.
We want to mitigate this by having mod creators post their pieces in the self promo thread, thus those who want to go finding "hidden gems" can do so there.

We hope this will alleviate tensions in the subreddit, and streamline the feed to be more about MSFS.

r/MicrosoftFlightSim subreddit community

Hi all!
First off this post is a bit overdue, there has been some changes to the mod team, after several years as mod of the sub u/IggyIggz1999 has stepped down, I hope we can give him a virtual applause for the work he’s put down for the sub!

Secondly, the reddit team would love your input on this. We’d like to do a monthly change of subreddit banner (the one that has the MSFS 2024 background) and change it between pictures submitted by you all.
What we want input on:
1: Would you like 1 large image, or 3 smaller ones conjoined?
2: We want to have somewhat control of the results, because we know redditors can like to be silly (looking at you Boaty McBoatface), so how should it be decided which screenshots win? We select X amount you choose the winner(s) from or the other way around? Open to suggestions!
3: Would you like prompts that the images need to adhere to, or just “best picture wins”?

Thirdly, I’m sure many of you have suggestions for the sub/community, it would be great to hear where your heads are at, and I imagine good things can come from sharing these ideas! I also want to add, I see many of you are active in helping each other out in comments and posts this is one of the things I’m most fond of in the FS community!

Lastly, We are two new mods to help out with moderation, u/LilFLquake and me, we’ve both been part of the sub for some time but only have experience moderating discord, so please bear with us.

Stop reddit from advertising other subreddit

Hi all!

I’m a new mod of r/MicrosoftFlighSim, which is a flight simulation game.
I’ve been lucky to enter the position after a spot opened. The sub already had over 200k members.

The sub is the official sub for the game, and one of the rules of our sub is “Enabling, hinting at or encouraging piracy of any kind is not allowed”.
Piracy is unfortunately found in parts of the flight simulator community, and small third party businesses suffer from it.

I was surprised after I had made a post the other day, to get a notification from reddit, saying:
People are loving your post!
“… we think r/flightsim_pirate will love it too”

I’m not trying to take down the other sub, but I think this advertisement for the sub is actively working against us and undermining our rules. Is there anyway I can stop reddit from giving this notification (that sub especially) to our members? I would be fine had it said r/flightsim which is a competing non-official subreddit, but encouraging this piracy sub is frustrating to me.

Thanks for all and any replies, and good luck to all of you starting out fresh!
