Hey CX-90 owners, we have been leasing a 2025 CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus for about 6.5 months and about 3 weeks ago my wife took it to the local Costco gas station to fill up the tank... only to discover that the fuel door would no longer open. As we have been leasing the car for over 6 months we are familiar with how to properly unlock the fuel door before pressing to open it, so not a procedural issue. Also there is no visible damage to the fuel door whatsoever, nor did we cause any damage by prying it open. Vehicle has about 8700 miles on it. Located in SE Florida.

Edit: We did not attempt to pry open the fuel door.

After dropping off the vehicle at our local Mazda dealership, it was determined that the plastic tab indicated by the red arrow in the photo had broken, and this is preventing the fuel door from opening when shut. We were told that Mazda USA has twice denied the warranty repair, and out-of-pocket cost to repair the box filler (part KMV6-42-420D) is close to $800 as it is a labor intensive job.

Contacted the Mazda Customer Experience Center as recommended on faq.mazdausa.com and opened a support case. Case manager responded after 4 days and stated that he had no authority to affect nor change warranty claim denials.

Really disappointed in the Mazda customer service experience at this point, and it's looking like the next step will be filing an arbitration claim through BBB Auto Line as suggested by the FAQ. Have also reached out to a couple of consumer law attorneys regarding the breach of warranty contract, as this part failed prematurely after 6 months through no fault of our own. Mazda USA is basically giving us their middle finger and it seems the supposed 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty is a sham.

Just curious if any other CX-90 owners have encountered similar situations with warranty claim denials and what the resolution or outcome was?
