Help with vehicle and whining
Hi there. I need help with my 2 year old German shepherd.
He will whine and cry while in a moving vehicle and I can’t get him to stop. When we stop the car he will stop and look around. He seems to get excited to go somewhere and can’t turn it off. I’ve tried
Leashing and tethering to seatbelts
Blinders
Treats
Ignoring it
Kennel
Toys in the back
Barriers
Desensitizing with boring drives or just hanging out in the truck. (He will relax in the truck if left there. Weather permitting and constant checking up on).
No matter what I seem to do nothing works. He used to behave pretty good but it seems that he just continues to get worst. At home he is able to calm down and and behave and can listen. All listening and training leaves as the truck is moving. At this time he is in a kennel in the back seat so that he at least can’t go back and forth rapidly. I don’t believe it’s motion sickness as he doesn’t have drooling and never throws up. The only thing that works is sedation meds for longer drives but I don’t want to keep doing that. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
