We shipped a batch of Leads improvements (rotting leads, archive reasons, required fields). Have you tried them yet?

Hi everyone, I work as an engineering manager at Pipedrive. My team works on smaller fixes that customers keep asking for, and I'm sharing what we've shipped recently, grouped by area. Last time it was Web Forms. Next up: Leads.

Rotting leads

Leads with no activity or updates for a while now get a red title in the Leads Inbox and a "Rotting" label on the lead detail view. The label goes away as soon as the lead gets a new activity or update.

  • Your own threshold: choose how many days without activity before a lead counts as rotting (30 days by default)
  • On/off switch: turn the indicator off if it isn't useful for your team

Both are in Settings → Company settings → Leads Inbox.

Archive reasons

Admins can now set up a list of reasons for archiving a lead, and decide whether choosing one is required.

  • Single and bulk archive: the reason picker shows up in both, and you can allow a free-text "Other" option
  • Visible later: the reason shows on the archived lead and can be edited afterwards
  • Reporting: you can filter, group and segment lead reports in Insights by archive reason

Who can archive

Permission sets have two new options, "Archive leads" and "Archive deals". Both are on by default, so nothing changes until an admin switches them off for a group. Users without the permission won't see the archive option.

Required fields on leads

You can now make lead fields required separately from deals, in Settings → Data fields → Leads. This covers lead value, person, organization, expected close date, labels and any custom field. For now, the requirement is enforced in the web app.

Lead detail view

  • Summary section: a new section at the top of the lead where you can put lead value, labels, expected close date and custom fields
  • More fields you can organise: person and organization fields, including ones like Industry and Website, can now be grouped and reordered like any other field

Bulk actions

You can now edit, archive, unarchive, or delete up to 1,000 leads at once, up from 500.

Time to convert in Insights

Lead reports in Insights can now show how long leads take to turn into deals, as a total or an average.

We'd love your feedback

  • Have you tried any of these yet? How did it go?
  • Has any of this been useful in your setup, for example replacing a spreadsheet, a custom field workaround or manual cleanup?
  • Anything confusing, or not working the way you expected?

Thanks for reading. We'll be following the comments.

We shipped a batch of Web Forms improvements (hidden fields, UTM capture, owner control). Have you tried them yet?

Hi everyone, I work as an engineering manager at Pipedrive. My team works on smaller fixes that customers keep asking for, and I'll be sharing what we've shipped recently, grouped by area. First up: Web Forms.

Hidden fields
You can now add hidden fields to a form. They capture extra data on every submission and save it to a Pipedrive field you choose. The person filling in the form doesn't see them. A hidden field can capture:

  • URL parameters: UTM tags, gclid or any other parameter from the page URL
  • Static value: a fixed label, e.g. "Pricing page"
  • Page URL: the page the form was submitted on
  • Referrer URL: where the visitor came from
  • Form identity: the form's ID or name
  • Cookie value: e.g. the Google Analytics client ID
  • JavaScript variable: a value from your own page, such as plan tier

State / Province / Region field
A new field type for teams that route or report leads by region.

Contact owner on resubmission
Each form has an owner set in its settings, and new contacts from that form are assigned to them. Previously, if an existing contact submitted the form again, their owner was also switched to the form's owner. You can now choose whether a resubmission keeps the contact's current owner or reassigns it to the form's owner.

We'd love your feedback

  • Have you tried any of these yet? How did it go?
  • Has any of this been useful in your setup, for example replacing a Zapier step, custom tracking code or manual cleanup?
  • Anything confusing, or not working the way you expected?

Thanks for reading. We'll be following the comments.
