Please Advise Me on This Job
Attending Anesthesiologist. Have done LT for the past several years and am considering signing on for a W2 Job.
Job:
Base mid 500’s + ~25k annual quality bonus that is almost guaranteed
Vacay 12w
30 x 24h in house a year (in house guaranteed call off)
40 x back up call year (call 2-4) (not guaranteed off but off sometimes and/or priority out)
90% solo cases with remainder medical direction
Most people making at least an additional 100k by working extra call and/or selling back some vacay. (Good and also indicates that the baseline call burden although a lot on paper is likely not actually bad)
Location: Job in home town parent, sibling, nieces, nephews near by. Blue collar city with approx 150k population. 1.5 hours from a major metro.
Job seems decent and having family near by is a big plus, but I am worried about my social life outside of that connection. On the other hand, locums has not been good for social life either. Im single currently also and finding SO is a concern
Jobs in the major metropolitan area aren't as good from a pay and vacay standpoint and also generally have a lot of medical direction or supervision and have a more limited scope of practice. Jobs closer in miles to the metro area also aren't as good and still far in terms of time due to traffic into the city.
I would love to hear everyone’s advice
